Healthy Breakfast

This week Whaea Gina is in talking to us about what is a Healthy Breakfast.  We looked at lots of different types of cereal and put them into categories of when we should eat them. Always, sometimes and occasional.  We did a pretty good job sorting them.

Get well Soon!

What a week.  Both Miss Snow and Mrs Croucher caught the bug and have been away since Wednesday. A huge thanks to Whaea Beeby who has been a god send helping out the relievers. She sent both of us an amazing picture of the children and there get well messages and bouquet of flowers they made.  I just love it so had to share. It definitely made my day, when I was feeling so miserable. Hopefully we will be back on deck on Monday.

We MISS YOU all to beautiful children!

We have a name!

Yes! We have a name for our turtle. Everyone shared what name they thought our class turtle should be. We wrote the suggested names down and the class voted for their favourite. We are starting to learn about statistics through graphing our information. They counted which name got the "most" votes, which ones got the "least" votes and which one got the "same" amount of votes. The conclusion? Our pet turtle's name is (drum roll please).....

Jarome makes Modelling Clay

Jarome and Whaea Michelle made some modelling clay this morning.

Tomorrow we are going to make turtles with it.

Here is our receipe if you want to make it at home,  remember to keep it damp as it dries out.  Once you've made your master piece let it air dry for 2 days, then paint.

Watch this space for the kids models.

Milo to warm us up.

We got caught in the rain while do our run this morning. To warm us up we had Milo and Cookies.

"It was yummy" said Lily
"It tastes like milo" said Argosy.
"It was genius" said Toni.

Getting to know our Turtle

The class spent the day wondering about the turtle.

Wondering what name to call him?
What does it eat?
Where did it come from?
How do we take care of it?

Watch this space for an update on our wonderings.  What will the turtles name be?

They observe it in and out of its tank.

So of course then we had to draw it.

Check out our sketches of the turtle, they are pretty cool.

First time out of the tank.

The fist child brave enough to hold our little friend!

Our new class pet.

We have been given a turtle. That will be our investigation for however long it takes.
We need to name it
And find out how we care for it.

Creating their own pattern on paper.

Following an AB pattern, or ABB pattern etc.

Making patterns on the light table.
